Stress kills! If you have diabetes, you are putting yourself at risk of your blood sugar rising. Ask me how I know. 🙋🏾‍♀️ Don’t believe me? Try checking your blood sugar when you feel stressed. Life is and can be stressful, and it’s almost unavoidable, but I urge you to do whatever you can to relieve yourself of that stress. So many health complications come from stress alone, and with diabetes, you have an internal carrier that’s waiting and willing to distribute doses of it to every organ in your body.

Go for a walk, sip a hot cup of tea, workout, read, sew, crochet, clean the house, or whatever you enjoy doing. Utilize that activity to get that stress out of your body and fast! Take care of YOU!💙

June 2022. There were no photos taken of me in the

June 2022. There were no photos taken of me in the hospital bed. That wasn’t a priority at the time, nor did I want to see the sight of an IV in my neck. I was focused on fighting to live. On the way home from the hospital, I took a photo of one of my badly bruised arms from all of the needles and tape that I had endured for 4 days. My life literally changed overnight and as a DKA (Diabetes Ketoacidosis) survivor, I knew I was in a do it or die situation. I’m a fighter! This is why bringing awareness to diabetes is so important to me.

I walked around excessively drinking water, having to urinate all day long, tired, nauseated, feet aching, and losing weight daily for a week before I went to get bloodwork done to see what was going on. I thought it was hormones because I was hot flashing and lightheaded as well. I didn’t know I was in extreme danger and in my condition, I should have been in a coma, or worse.

Instead, I took a photo of the beautiful flowers my daughter and grandson brought to me, and also a selfie as I relaxed on the patio while my husband prepared a meal. I wanted photos to remind me of taking back my life from what tried to take me out. I owe God ALL the praise!🙌🏾

Diabetes is not a friendly disease, and it will attack if you let your guard down. If you’ve been recently or previously diagnosed, your life is worth fighting for, so fight! Make the necessary changes and LIVE!💙

Today is the kickoff of Let’s Sew Blue 2024! I am really excited about this challenge, and today on my YouTube channel, I shared a little of my story and I talked about challenging yourself to do one thing to better your health. It might be drinking more water, working out, eating better, and the list goes on. Don’t wait until your life depends on it. Take care of your temple now!

I’m always challenging myself to get up and work out, especially when I don’t feel like it. What I have learned through this journey, is that going by feelings might keep you stuck in a place where you get nothing done.
