A great part of sewing is making things you absolutely love, and this knit top is one of them. It is an easy to sew pattern that can be sewn quickly and, in my opinion, is beginner friendly. The pattern for this top is Simplicity 9679.
I am honestly pleased with this pattern and there is nothing negative that I can say about it. It’s so good that I even posted a sew-along for it on my Youtube channel. I made view C, which is the view that the model is wearing. There are a total of three views with variations that you can choose from and where any time of the year.
Fabric
The suggested fabrics for this pattern are stretch knits only such as: Cotton Knits, Interlock, Jersey, Sweater Knits, Bamboo, and Rayon Knits. I sewed my top in a Ribbed Sweater Knit. I picked this knit up at Walmart as a remnant bundle for only $4. Now that’s a deal that cannot be beat!
I will say that you do want to make sure that the knit fabric you are using has a good “snatch back” to it, because if the knit is too loose, it will not lay around the shoulder and neck area like it should.
Sizing
The sizing for this pattern in U.S. sizing ranges from 4-20. I cut a size 14 based on my bust measurement.
More Insight
This top is very comfortable to wear and it can be paired well with complimentary pieces like pants, skirts, and even blazers. This pattern is also easy to hack into a dress by simply adding length to the bottom of the top.
As I’ve said before, there is nothing negative that I can say about this pattern and you definitely should make it. As you can see, I am incredibly happy with this one.
